Musical Gift Recitals (MGRs) provide an opportunity for students to serve local retirement communities with their musical gifts and talents. High School students receive one hour of community service for participating.

In-Person MGR Performances

  • Students of member teachers perform at assisted living and nursing home facilities throughout the Eastside. Recital venues and dates are announced a month ahead of time and sign ups must be completed10 days in advance.  (Registration may close early if the recital fills up)
  • Students will not be entered in the recital program without complete information (composer, title, playing time). Maximum 4 students per teacher and total performance time will be limited to 7 minutes per teacher.
  • Teachers who have submitted 5 or more students to in-person MGRs over the past 6 months may be asked to assist at one of the recitals. Thank you!

Information for Coordinators

MGR Coordinators organize the recital program, print In-person MGR certificate for each student, and emcee the recital.

Video MGR Performances

Musical Gift Recital Videos are part of LWMTA’s community outreach program. Virtual recitals are created and posted on YouTube
(“Unlisted”). The recitals are broadcast or distributed by each retirement community. Each performer receives a certificate of
participation and a 1-hour credit for community service.

There will be Fall, Winter and two Spring video recitals. Videos may be sent at any time during the school year.

Recording Guidelines

  • An announcement is not required
  • Memorized performance is not required
  • Ask students to dress nicely, and to bow or nod/smile at the end of the performance
  • Any video format is acceptable (MP4, MOV, WMV, AVI, MKV, etc.)
  • Prepare a link for large files (Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud, Dropbox. No YouTube links, please!)
  • Attach the video link to an email listing student name, title and composer, and send to SelinaChuStudio@gmail.com
  • Print the MGR certificate for your student
