Come and learn about events planned for the year! Program Chairs will be available to discuss the events they are managing. This is a great opportunity to meet the event/program chairpersons, explore opportunities for your students and learn ways that you can participate and make LWMTA a stronger and more vital organization for teachers and students.

MusicLink: Benefits for Teachers and Students (Presenter: Christopher Anderson)

The MusicLink Foundation reaches out to low income families by linking these students with professional music teachers willing to reduce their fee to make the lessons more affordable for the child. Christopher Anderson, NW Representative for MusicLink, will provide an introduction to this program.

Making Friends In Spite of Our Lonely Profession (Presenter: Mary Kaye Owen, NCTM)

“If you go looking for a friend, you’re going to find they’re very scarce. If you go out to be a friend, you’ll find them everywhere.” –Zig Ziglar. Mary Kaye Owen will share the presentation she gave at the WSMTA State Conference in June 2019. In this session, the topic will be addressed by perusing pieces of historical advice, sharing anecdotal experiences, and planning personal goals.

Motivating Students Through Incentive Programs (Presenter: Samantha Yeung)

Samantha Yeung will share about the year-long, studio-wide incentive program she implements to motivate her students to diligently practice their scales/arpeggios/chords every week, to memorize every piece they learn, to eagerly study a variety of pieces of different styles and time periods, and to excitedly sign up to participate in “extracurricular” events such as MGRs, MAP, and MLP.
