  • Joyce Meech music for sale: The profit is all donated to the chapter. It’ll be continued next month, October, for Christmas and Jazz music. For additional info, please contact Joyce by phone or e-mail.
  • Potluck hosting (Kaitlin Mitchell): Satomi’s place will not be available for December due to her trip. Kaitlin asks the chapter for a volunteer, who has a central location, to host.
  • Shadow for MAP Chair (Kaitlin Mitchell): Selina retires from the MAP chair after this year. We need a new chair to learn from her. All details regarding the job are in good place and Selina will guide it.

Workshop“New Beginnings”

Come to our meeting and  learn about events planned for the year.  Program Chairs will be available to discuss their events. This is a great opportunity to meet the chairpersons, explore opportunities for your students and learn ways that members can participate and make LWMTA a stronger and more vital organization for teachers and students.

Events in the chapter:

Kaitlin goes through the yearbook and each chair explains details.

Musical Gift Recitals (Iris Hsu): There are 4 MGRs planned this year. Teachers could send up to 4 students in a total of 10 minutes of performance time. Teachers’ participation is needed to run the event. All details are in the Google form and registration would be available about one month prior to each event. Online MGR is still available with Selina around Holidays. It is good for community service hours.

Musical Passport Festival (Makiko Meyer): MPF is on 11/15/25 this year. Students need repertoires in two musically different styles. There will be two judges and the higher score would be selected for the final grade. You can purchase additional time if the music goes beyond the time limit. Memory will be reflected on the result. For additional info, please ask the chair. Non-traditional repertoire will be included this year.

Teacher’s Recital (Kaitlin Mitchell): It will be on 1/17/2026 in NW pianos. Kaitlin mentions that it would be more of the social gathering than solely focussing on the performance.

Young Composers Recital (Kaitlin Mitchell , Mary-Kaye Owen): Various forms of composition will be accepted. Registration is ready on Google. And on-line participation is available.

Music Artistry Program (Selina Chu): Currently planned on 2/20-21/2026. Margee, original MAP artist for 2026, is replaced by Ross. MAP artists will select an honor recital student from every 5 students in each studio. Registration is due on 1/10/2026. And there is an additional $15 chapter fee per student which should be sent to Selina at the time of registration.

MAP Honor Recital (Selina): This recital will follow one week after the MAP. The location is NW pianos.

Chapter competition (Nicole Kim): The competition will be on 4/4/2026 with Ricardo de la Torre as a judge. The venue is at the Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, in Bellevue. Teacher’s participation is required. For questions re. Repertoires, Stephanie Lee is the repertoire chair. All rules are in the yearbook.

Music Literacy Program (Mary-Kaye): The venue will be combined with EMTA. Mary-Kaye is waiting to hear back from the president of EMTA.
